These individuals lead a diverse workgroup to safely and efficiently accomplish work assignments and goals that are in line with the company's vision.Relocation assistance may be provided to those who are moving more than 50 driving miles from their permanent residence.Work Location: System WideAnticipated Start Date: January, June or September 2020Salary Range: $69,000Applicants will be notified via e-mail regarding potential interviews, testing, and hiring events for this position. An ideal candidate should be very flexible regarding location.TRAININGThe Management Trainee program begins with a fast-paced, intensive training program that includes:* Training lasts approximately 6 months* Two (2) week orientation conducted at our company headquarters in Fort Worth, TX* Two (2) week technical (e.g. rules, safety) and personnel training conducted at our Technical Training Center (TTC) in Overland Park, KS* Associated on-the-job field training conducted at assigned locationPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The training program will include:* Orientation into safety certification, warranty procedures, Best Way, Condition Based Maintenance, Bad Actor Program, Contract Maintenance and Foreign Billing, Audit Procedures and railroad computer applications.* Technical Training both in the field and at the Technical Training Center (TCC) in Overland Park, KS.* Develop railroad knowledge to understand operations focused on engineering department, including interacting with other operations departments.* Job shadowing among the various departments and roles in the company.UPON COMPLETION OF TRAINING, MANAGEMENT TRAINEES MAY BE PLACED IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING 2 TEAMS AS A SUPERVISOR TO BNSF EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR CONSULTANTS:TRACK (Will likely fill a Track role upon completion of training):* Plan, coordinate and supervise various types of production and maintenance activities in the efficient, safe and economical performance of their duties.* Ensure track structure is maintained to meet BNSF and FRA standards.* Work with NOC dispatchers and other operating personnel to ensure proper coordination of track windows in order to make production goals.* Plan daily work to complete projects per work schedule.* Coordinate track maintenance work with contractors and other departments to maximize work efforts and train operations.* Perform pre-job surveys and ensure quality control by walking, hi-rail and track inspections.* Follow up on safety issues, maintain contact with field personnel and help enhance overall quality and safety guidelines.* Ensure compliance and application of company policies, i.e., BNSF's Equal Employment Policy, applicable safety rules, union agreements, FRA standards and government regulations.ENGINEERING SERVICES & STRUCTURES* Administer, supervise and coordinate all maintenance, construction, inspection and operation of bridges and structures, both operating and capital functions.* Day to day and long range planning, budgeting, discipline, safety programs and auditing.* Coordinate with other departments to ensure a safe and efficient maintenance operation.* Address technical training, safety training, follow up on safety issues, maintain contact with field personnel and help enhance overall quality and safety guidelines.* Ensure compliance and application of company policies, i.e. BNSF's Equal Employment Policy, applicable safety rules, scheduled agreements, FRA standards and government regulations.* Provide project planning and scope development support.* Provide project management support, including maintaining project managing systems.* Support securing construction and environmental permits.* Identify and coordinate property purchase and utility relocations with other BNSF departments and real estate service providers.* Provide surveying support, project administration, inspection and ensure conformance to BNSF's standards and specifications.* Implement and manage construction safety processes.* Evaluate and manage change orders associated with projects.* Support cash flow forecast process with Finance Department.* Coordinate internal Signal, Track, Telecommunications and Structures design and construction activities to progress the overall project.* Provide review of proposed BNSF customer project concepts and plans.* Provide BNSF Economic Development and Marketing Departments with engineering guidance.* Maintain engineering portions of customer project tracking system.* Furnish engineering support for drainage problems, embankment stability and emergency repairs as necessary.* Support the preparation of detailed estimates for the Capital Expenditure Program.* Assist working with public agencies on interdependent projects.Additionally, qualified candidates must be able to:* Demonstrate the ability to perform around bridges in elevated locations.HOURS OF WORK:* Hours are irregular with a minimum of 40 hours per week.* Schedule involves nights, weekends, and holidays, as BNSF is a 24 X 7 work environment..SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT:* Must have reliable transportation to and from work.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:* I have a 2.70 or higher cumulative GPA in AN Engineering or Construction Management PROGRAM OR a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA with a non-Engineering degree.* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Construction Management or an Engineering program from accredited university to be completed prior to hire OR have obtained a degree within the past three (3) years.* Less than three (3) years of work experience in a professional work environment. When calculating work experience, EXCLUDE internships or positions held while in high school or college.* Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future.* Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.* Ability to relocate within the BNSF Railway operating system to start and/or upon career progression and/or business need.* Valid Driver's License.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a related discipline.* Experience working in an engineering or construction related environment.* Experience worki
