IT Support Apprenticeship £8k (p.a)

Main responsibilities:

  • Acting as first-line support for students and staff who may be experiencing technical problems.
  • Ensure that school IT systems are in full working order, clean and ready to use for administration and curriculum purposes.
  • Work with teachers, non-teaching and learning support staff and pupils to develop their
  • IT skills.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate level of expertise in the IT systems commonly used in the school in order to install and configure standard workstations, peripherals and software.
  • Maintain an accurate database of school IT hardware and software including storing documentation and licences.
  • Assist with display and school events, some of which may occur in the evening.
  • Carry out basic administration within the department.
  • Other tasks as required to support the school's IT Systems Manager and the school's IT infrastructure.
  • Please note that these duties will develop over time as the requirement of the school varies.

Desired skills:

Experience of problem solving technical issues

Experience with OS configuration

Experience with Windows network environments

Experience with Networking

Personal Qualities:

Excellent communication and listening skills

Independently research and implement IT solutions

Good time management and organisational skills

Ability to think creatively and solve basic problems

Ability to explain technical problems in a way that those without technical knowledge can understand

Ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and to recognise potential safeguarding issues

Desired Qualifications:

At least 5 GSCE's, including English and Maths at GCSE grade C (grade: 9-4) or above.

Future Prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
