Electrical Engineer - Entry-Level Minneapolis , Minnesota

Power System Engineering, Inc. (PSE) is a full-service consulting firm for electric utilities, independent power producers and commercial and industrial facilities. PSE is a key player in the deployment of energy resources in the industry. This position will work as part of a team utility and industrial clients in evaluating energy resource production estimates, performance models, hardware and software technology, design, installation, and costs for existing or new build projects.

Responsibilities:

The following are essential responsibilities of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of the fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of this position may change or be altered based on the business needs of the company. The basic requirement of every position at PSE is to perform all tasks as assigned by the team lead.

  1. Design commercial and utility scale electrical systems for distributed energy resource (DER) projects. Project types include solar PV, energy storage and microgrid related technologies including the interconnection design at primary and secondary distribution voltages. (System capacity range from 100kW to 100MW+).
  2. Conduct site feasibility studies and assist with site surveying for PV layouts including collecting building measurements to assist with analyzing solar trajectory, shading, and power output calculations.
  3. Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permitting agencies, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  4. Establish and maintain on-going client relationships within the renewable energy industry.
  5. Provide a wide range of engineering and technical consulting services to PSE's commercial and industrial clients including lighting design, power distribution design, conducting power quality studies, and performing coordination and arc flash studies.
  6. Work in a cooperative fashion with other PSE team members to improve our efficiencies and work product.

Minimum Requirements:

The following are minimum requirements of this position.

  1. Must have a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer license within a 4-year period of hire date.
  3. The candidate shall be self-motivated and have experience in developing electrical construction bid documents for commercial and industrial facilities.
  4. Working knowledge of applicable NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI standards is highly preferred.
  5. Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
