Junior Client Support and Data Analyst Bracknell, Berkshire

Department Overview:
The Markit Equities Division comprises IHS Markit DeltaOne Index Managed Services, Trading Services, Securities Lending and Dividend Forecasting products, enabling our clients to price instruments, comply with regulation and analyse markets and portfolios.

The IHS Markit DeltaOne Buy-Side Team is a team of market index data subject matter and technical experts, who are responsible for delivering timely and accurate data to the buy-side client base.

The current team consists of some highly experienced financial services professionals from technical and subject matter backgrounds. There will be opportunities to grow within the team as the platform grows and matures.

Position summary:
IHS Markit DeltaOne is seeking a technically oriented analyst to join the IHS Markit DeltaOne buy-side team. The role is based in Bracknell and provides a great opportunity to be involved in building a new data management and processing system for financial services clients.

This is a hybrid role which will require high level of interaction both with customers and suppliers of data as well as data manipulation of many datasets using "Big Data" ideas and technologies.
As a client service analyst, the responsibilities are to support products and services while providing customers with key information and analytical solutions. Clients rely on ongoing support for daily data feeds that assist with functions such as performance attribution analysis, risk management and compliance, and portfolio management.

As a data analyst the role will be to support the business processing team. Responsibilities will involve data analysis and manipulation with the scope to turn these into documentation which will then be used by the design and implementation team.

Successful candidates will use problem-solving and solid mathematical ability to research issues associated with benchmark data and calculations across financial asset types including fixed income, equity and commodities. Issue investigation and resolution will involve close collaboration with data suppliers and clients.

Duties & accountabilities:
  • Customer-facing role - managing customer inquiries and requests
  • Monitoring daily quality checks and in the case of failures, investigate and determine the root cause and take the appropriate course of action
  • Run qualification analysis on new data feeds to clients
  • Extract, manipulate and clean data from internal database via SQL
  • Assist in developing advanced product-focused expertise in the team
  • Analysis of data sets to ensure validations have passed for data to process
  • Collaborate with support and development teams to ensure accuracy of calculations and methodologies across components

Education and experience:
  • Candidate to be degree educated. Maths, Science or Computer Sciences are preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, mainly Excel
  • Experience in SQL (preferred) and Python (must)
  • Experience in manipulating many and large data sets

Commercial awareness:
  • Knowledge and understanding of equity and fixed income asset types (preferred)
  • Experience in manipulating many and large data sets
  • Experience of a customer facing role hugely advantageous
