Grad Intern - Ops (Attribute Sciences) Cambridge , Massachusetts

Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

The intern will work as part of an industry-leading process development team within Amgen's Attribute Sciences organization. The intern will optimize state-of-the-art automation platforms for sample impurity screening to ensure product quality. This position will provide support of Amgen's mission to serve Every Patient, Every Time.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:
  • Training and execution of analytical methods
  • Manual performance of assays
  • Analysis of data generated from manual and automated testing
  • Finding opportunities for productivity enhancement
  • Method optimization and comparability studies
  • Preparation and presentation of a technical summary of performed studies


This role will gain experience working in a laboratory environment which aligns with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices. The intern will have the opportunity to develop a practical familiarity with electronic lab notebook software, an understanding of the principles of immunochemistry-based analytical method development, proficiency with ELISA assays, and familiarity with high-throughput lab equipment.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a Master's program for a Masters internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in Biology or Chemistry

Comfortable in a lab environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Programming experience highly recommended

Innovative, positive, and resilient approach to challenges

Strong written and oral communication skills

Works well in teams

Familiarity with principles of immunochemical assays

Robust pipetting technique and laboratory experience
