Grad Intern - Ops (Impurities) Cambridge , Massachusetts

Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

The intern will be working as part of a dynamic team in Amgen's Attribute Sciences Process Development organization to evaluate state-of-the-art alternative analytical method platforms for impurity sample screening to meet short-turn around times enabling the advancement of fast lane programs.

The project will evaluate innovative, leading edge technology for the detection of process-related impurities to enable rapid sample screening to support for residual Host Cell Protein measurement utilizing automation processes, for example: ProteinSimple-Ella and TECAN.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Execution of manual immunoassays to serve as controls
  • Train and execute experiments on automated platforms
  • Train on immunoassay techniques
  • Document experimental finding in electronic notebook (ELN)
  • Generating, analyzing, and interpreting analytical data
  • Preparation and presentation of technical summary of studies


Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a Master's program for a Masters internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in Biology/Chemistry or related discipline

Comfortable in lab environment

Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Knowledge of immunoassay techniques and procedures, and data analysis is preferred

Experience with the use of high throughput lab equipment platforms

Experience working in a GMP laboratory

Understanding GDP documentation requirements

Innovative, positive, and resilient approach to challenges

Strong written and oral communication skills

Works well in teams
