Junior .NET Developer Plymouth, Devon £20k - £25k (p.a)

STEM Graduates into Business are pleased to be adverting a vacancy for a recent graduate (within last 3 years) with a degree in computer science or similar, to work with Vualto. Vualto is a fast-growing company who design, develop and deploy pioneering technology to make online video happen. They work with broadcasters and content owners throughout the UK, Europe, America and Asia and products include: live and on-demand video delivery to multiple devices, instant Live2VOD automation, Digital Rights Management, Players and Player SDK's.

Vualto have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee .NET Developer to join their growing team in Plymouth. The position would suit a recent graduate - someone at the start of their career looking to join a company that will support their development.

Reporting into a Technical Lead and working within the Development team, you will assist with the development and maintenance of their video streaming projects. They are looking for someone who is highly driven with the ability to help them continue to grow and develop their business. Do you have:

  • Degree in Computer Science (or relevant subject)
  • Experience with C# .NET Core will be considered an advantage.
  • Some experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of the relevant product stack.
  • Experience and knowledge of several of the following technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, SQL, Elastic Search, .NET MVC, Web API
  • Practical experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD).
  • Understanding of modern CI & CD tools and techniques
  • Experience with version control systems (GitHub, Bitbucket or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy and consideration in all dealings with clients and other staff members.
  • Knowledge of video streaming and/or DRM would be advantageous, but training will be given to the right candidate.

As a Junior .NET Developer you will::

  • Undertake software development tasks usually in C# .NET to enhance our products, develop back end systems/APIs/Workflows.
  • Set up and configure cloud based and on premises video delivery workflows and Digital Rights Management (DRM).
  • Provide training / documentation to other operational staff who will support these services.
  • Share best practices identified in daily work with members of the team.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Sales team where required.
  • Have the opportunity to attend industry events

This role is being advertised as part of STEM Graduates into Business, a European Regional Development Funded project delivered by the University of Plymouth Careers Service. Its aim is to increase the number of paid internships available to recent graduates with small and medium sized enterprises based in Devon. Funded until spring 2021, the project should produce 80 internships with 80 separate employers across the county.
By providing support and funding to the SMEs, it is hoped that a cohort of graduate employing SMEs will be created which will continue to employ graduates beyond the life of the project.
