An opportunity for an experienced junior lawyer to join a fast growing, medium sized, entrepreneurial pharmaceutical business, with the main focus on commercial agreements.

You might already be in house or you could be in private practice with a reputable firm and considering your first move into industry. Our ideal candidate is a solicitor or barrister (probably 1-3 years PQE) who has worked on or supported more senior legal advisers on complex commercial matters, including distribution and licensing arrangements.

Your core legal skills are likely to be commercial, but we will be looking for the demonstrable ability to understand the bigger picture and identify solutions to complex issues, combined with decisiveness and a clear understanding of legal risk management. You probably gained these skills in a strong regional or national law firm and experience of working in house (perhaps on secondment), while not essential, will be an advantage.

Reporting to our Head of Commercial Legal and will also work directly with the General Counsel. The role will involve providing first line support to internal teams from across the group of companies with regular exposure to senior stakeholders within the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Negotiating, drafting and supporting on a broad range of commercial contracts, including distribution, logistics and licensing, general service, regulatory, supply chain agreements and amendments to existing legal contacts.
  • Drafting and advising internal stakeholders on the content of confidentiality agreements and granting powers of attorney to external agents.
  • Supporting on high value multi-national M&A transactions.
  • Supporting with the management of an extensive global trademark portfolio.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance to the wider business.
  • Assist with the maintenance of a centralised legal contracts database.

What we are looking for:

  • A qualified solicitor with a strong academic background as well technical excellence.
  • Commercial contracts experience.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Robust researching and drafting capability & high attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • People management skills and the ability to collaborate and build relationships.
  • Knowledge of trademark, law trade law and sanctions.
  • Highly organised, structured and well planned.
  • Able to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Able to be flexible with working hours
