Junior Power Electronics Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in power electronics and electrical aspects of radar hardware design and radar equipment support? We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Power Electronics Engineer at our site in Great Baddow.

As a Junior Power Electronics Engineer, you will be working with skilled engineers and be responsible for developing electrical designs, creating functional design specifications and overseeing machine builds. You will have the chance to enhance your skills and progress your career to senior positions within the business.

This role will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding, market leader offering the chance to work autonomously on interesting projects from initial design through to manufacture

Your main responsibilities as a Junior Power Electronics Engineer will involve:

Supporting the conduct of a range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services

Supporting the design of AC distribution systems including sizing, generation, protection, UPS and control across a range of power levels up to 1MW

Supporting the design of DC distribution systems including specification of power supplies, converters, including sizing, protection, and control

Supporting the design of motor drives, control, and positioning systems

Support to EMC management and verification, including design verification using combination of simulation, analysis, test techniques plus support to EMC test houses and customer installation

Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients

Your skills and qualifications:

Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or strongly related subject

Good practical ability

Able to communicate technical information to others usually engineers

Able to resolve well bounded technical problems based on own experience

Some industry experience within an electrical environment would be advantageous but is not essential

Also you will be a strong communicator with tact and discretion, and being able to work as part of a team. Furthermore you will be expected to be responsible for the quality of your own work.
