What is a Quality Assurance Specialist at Yellow Pages?

The Quality Assurance Specialist Intern will develop and implement software test strategies/plans, test procedures, test scripts and test cases for a variety of client/server systems that are at the core of the YPG digital world. The Intermediate Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure that defects are identified and addressed prior to releasing the product and help in approving the software for release.

Responsibilities:

Test Planning

Identify and analyze business (BRD) and functional requirements (FRD) (implicit and explicit), failure modes, and quality factors.

Design and implement test strategies/plans.

Ensure compliance with established processes and méthodologies

Test Case Development

Design and implement test procedures, test scripts, test cases in collaboration with other team members.

Test Automation

Automate the testing on the various product lines that you will work on, using a common scripting language, sql scripting, shell scripting, etc...

Test Environment Preparation

Install and configure the test environments as required by the various QA assignments.

Test Execution and Results Analysis

Use a combination of scripted (analytic) and exploratory (heuristic) testing techniques in conducting QA on our products.

Internalize customer problems and goals and identify usability and user-interface concerns.

Assist in the reproduction and follow-up of issues reported from end-users.

Test Reporting

Track progress of the testing project, work done, work to go, testing completed, testing to go.

Ensure the documentation and communication of test results and issues (bugs/improvement) through an issue tracking system.

What do you need to be a Quality Assurance Specialist at Yellow Pages?

Education, Experience and Technical skills

Enrollment in a University program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience

Experience in scripting (i.e. PERL, Python, PHP, JSCRIPT)

Knowledge of Java

Experience in testing API's

Ability to use manual, automated or partly automated testing approaches to implementing test cases

Soft Skills and Competencies

Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities

Clear verbal and written communication skills (terse, clear and complete).

Good technical writing skills and ability to clearly describe complex processes and tasks

Competencies that are considered assets

Knowledge of virtual environments (i.e. Cloud)

Knowledge of Deployment methods

Knowledge of test harnesses

Knowledge of Object-Oriented architecture and development
