Leidos is seeking an Mechanical Engineer Intern located in our Manassas, VA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Leidos is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to be a member of the ARL-E airframe team with interest in aircraft structure design and analysis. The position requires ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The engineer will assist with airframe design work related to aircraft modifications and antenna/sensor mounting provisions. Candidates will learn the steps involved in the build process, from conceptual design to final assembly and installation on the aircraft. Candidates should have a willingness to work in a shop environment to get hands on experience with the aircraft modifications. Candidates will also be supporting drawing revisions to capture changes in final installation design. Ideal candidates will also have a background in CAD design, FEM analysis and machine fabrication techniques.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-Currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
-2-3 years of college in either program.
-CAD software experience.
-The ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
-U.S. Citizenship is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-SolidWorks design experience
-Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
-Machine Fabrication experience
