Junior Purchasing Manager - Equipment & Decor

The company:
A purchasing company based in High Wycombe is now looking for a junior purchasing manager to join the warm and friendly commercial department ASAP. Working with the worlds largest sandwich franchise they are keen to welcome someone to the team.
Accountable for:
- Ensuring compliance to the purchasing process on products, pricing and contract management
- Ensuring benefit tracking and cost tracking data is always updated and accurate
- Obtaining information from Franchisees and suppliers as required
- Supporting the creation and delivery of category plans for nominated Equipment and Décor items
- Managing the cost of nominated categories required to build a restaurant
- Managing and reporting on the performance of nominated Equipment and Décor suppliers
Performance Measures:
- Contribution to benefit tracker (savings)
- Completing accurate research and analysis to support purchasing decisions and the development of category plans
- Ensuring new or changed products are delivered into the supply chain in a timely manner
- Ensuring pricing and product data is accurate at all times and all changes are made in a timely manner
- Relevant equipment team and personal targets as decided annually
Principal responsibilities:
- Work with nominated equipment & decor suppliers and team members to manage performance and reduce total cost of ownership, maintaining a focus on delivering cost savings and contributing to the benefit tracker
- Collate and analyse data to aid strategy formulation and decision-making, to support the development of long-term category strategies, and to prioritise project delivery
- Deliver timely and accurate communications, product change overs, product information set-up requests
- Support the delivery of projects using the internal Category Management and Project Management processes and tools to secure stakeholder buy-in, define the critical path, provide clear feedback and progress reports Upon successful completion of an induction period candidate will also be responsible for managing a defined category or categories in line with category management principles
- According to the category plans, deliver value to Franchise Owners using appropriate methodologies such as strategic sourcing, benchmarking, value engineering, creating long term partnerships, etc.
- Build a good understanding of cost structures, supply/value chains, and total cost of ownership of nominated categories and products
- Support the establishment of contracts with suppliers ensuring clarity and visibility of commercial terms agreed through the appropriate documentation
- Support the setting of clear KPI's and targets with nominated approved suppliers, and support regular reviews which focus on continuous improvement
- Address and resolve any ongoing performance issues with nominated Equipment & Decor suppliers
- Support Operations and Equipment Development with product evaluation, field testing and implementation where applicable
Qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- Strong commercial, negotiation and numerical aptitude
- Purchasing experience - with direct supplier/category responsibility
- Experience of international and cross-cultural working is an advantage
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Able to prioritise effectively and meet demanding deadlines
- Proven track-record of working cross-functionally to deliver improvement projects on time
