Summary

This position will work under the direction of the Purchasing Manager to perform a variety of purchasing and clerical duties in support of the procurement of various materials and services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the administrative & operational functions supporting a designated buyer. Handle purchase order management including creating orders, changes, cancellations and necessary follow-up (both internally and externally) to ensure key shipments are delivered and processed.
  • Purchase materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need
  • Work closely with buyers and other internal stake holders for timely execution of PO's (purchase orders).
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison with suppliers and necessary company operating departments to ensure adequate flow of information concerning the progress of material and delivery schedules.
  • Develop effective relationships with vendors. This includes appropriate level of interaction with vendors in terms of both problem resolution and follow-up.
  • Resolve issues related to quality and delivery.
  • Work with warehouse/receiving personnel to close out PO's.
  • Train in the use of good buying techniques and value analysis to maximize us of corporate funds.
  • Monitor outstanding orders to ensure timely deliveries of quality products to maintain production, following up on orders to expedite shipment and delivery as needed
  • Develop and maintain necessary records and files for compliance purposes.
  • Available for other work as assignments within the company.

Education & Qualifications

- High School diploma required

- Prefer junior or senior year of college.

- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or other relevant field at an accredited school

- Prefer 3.2 grade point average in major

- Must be proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Must be detail orientated and be able to multitask.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team

- Good organizational and problem-solving skills

- Ability to plan, organize and schedule tasks.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
