Junior Research Technician

Our client, a leading CRO specialising in pre-clinical cancer research are looking to recruit a Junior Research Technician to join their in vivo laboratory team. The successful candidate will be required carry out daily animal husbandry duties regulated procedures in accordance with Home Office regulations. The company provides appropriate training and offers a career pathway, so you can continue to progress and learn new skills in the laboratory animal industry.

Full driving licence and own transport is required due to the client's location.

Basic Requirements:

• Animal care or science-related qualification
• Home Office Licence modules A-B are essential, module C is desirable
• Previous experience working with rodents in an animal facility
• Experience conducting licensed procedures is advantageous
• Self-motivated and flexible approach to work
• Ideally competent in data analysis, computer software and report writing skills
• Full driving licence and own transport

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Regular handling of animals under all environmental conditions and daily animal husbandry duties, including provision of food and water and maintaining high levels of hygiene for each animal
• Assist with and perform regulated procedures
• Perform a wide range of dosing techniques including subcutaneous, intravenous and intraperitoneal
• Carrying out regular observations and health checks, and provide regular updates to researchers to support their programme of study
• Accurately maintain records within the facility management system
• Responsible for the stock take and ordering of essential consumable items and reagents
• Liaise with research colleagues, support staff, and administrative team for the support of the research
• Assist with the general housekeeping and maintenance of the laboratory
• To undertake any other duties required which are consistent with the nature and grade of the post.
