Care Dimensions was founded in 1978 as Hospice of the North Shore and was one of the nation's first hospice programs. We have evolved from a small, all-volunteer agency and today we are the largest hospice in Massachusetts with a staff of more than 600 and 500 volunteers. In 2018, we cared for 5,120 hospice patients and more than 1400 palliative care patients. We serve an average of 900 hospice patients and 350 palliative care patients each day.

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Services and Complementary Therapies ("Director"), the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director with the logistics and development of volunteer programs. Responsibilities include volunteer outreach and recruitment; volunteer candidate screening, application and records management; training, assigning and supervising volunteers. Using discretion and sound judgment, works independently and effectively. Ensured effective and pro-active communicate with team, patients and volunteers.

What You'll Bring:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent, in related discipline such as social work, psychology, education, human services, or business. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of program administration or office management experience in a healthcare or non-profit setting, preferably in a volunteer program or having served as a volunteer in a non-profit agency.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing volunteer recruitment events.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally.
  • Demonstrated ability to present a supportive and sensitive approach to volunteer and patient/family needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and obtain results through others.
