Junior Clinical Fellows in Adult Critical Care London £32k - £51k (p.a)

Department of Critical Care Junior Clinical Fellows in Adult Critical Care General ICU, Neuro ICU and Cardiothoracic ICU

Immediate start for 6 months (extendable)

General Junior Clinical Fellow

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of 4 major trauma units in London and also one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, with around 1100 beds and 60 adult critical care beds. St George's Hospital is the main teaching hospital in the western sector of South London and as such supports an extensive training programme for junior doctors.

We are looking to recruit dynamic and committed individuals to join our Critical Care Teams on the General, Neuro and Cardiothoracic Units.

There are posts available for junior clinical fellows (FY2+) in Critical Care immediately for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension. The three adult intensive care units at St Georges work closely together and therefore offer a unique opportunity to experience subspecialty and general intensive care medicine under one umbrella. Unit preference will be taken into account at interview; there will be the opportunity to rotate between the units.

We can accommodate doctors with no previous intensive care experience and also those looking to broaden their intensive care experience. Duties and responsibilities will be commensurate with the individual candidate's experience and are overseen by consultant intensivists at all times.

QI special interest

This post is only offered to the best candidate who expressed interest in the field. This post is only available for a clinical fellow based in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care unit with time spent in the Quality Improvement Academy (with a special interest in QI project in CTICU). The post is initially advertised for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension to 1 year. Prior ICM experience is not essential. Long days and on-call duties will be spent on cardiothoracic ICU. Day shifts will be split between QI project related programs and clinical work. Successful candidates will also be expected to take on other non-clinical activities commensurate with their needs and level of seniority and take a leading role in delivering the critical care quality improvement projects.

There is a robust teaching programme in place and the opportunity to gain experience in echocardiography. Successful candidates will also be expected to take on non-clinical activities such as audit, teaching and quality improvement projects. The Critical Care Directorate is internationally recognised for its research and several consultants hold leadership positions in national and international societies.

The posts are suitable for candidates wishing to pursue a wide variety of careers and candidates from a medical, surgical, emergency medicine or anaesthetic background will be considered. We welcome applications from overseas.

Prior experience of the UK healthcare system is desirable, and GMC registration is essential.
