Exeter House is part of the Somerset Road Education Trust: a unique collaborative multi-academy trust, formed in partnership with St Mark's CofE Junior School and Wyndham Park Infants' School who share our campus. We also have an offsite vocational centre for our older students. At present the school caters for approximately 142 young people between the ages of 4 and 19 who have PMLD, SLD or Complex Needs. A significant number of students also have a diagnosis of autism.

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, conscientious and caring apprentice teaching assistants to join our hardworking and committed team. You will provide support for an identified class, providing a stable, caring and supportive learning environment, enabling pupils to achieve their full learning potential and development.

The primary role of a Teaching Assistant within a special school is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils' learning, social and emotional development, positive behaviour and independence. Promoting self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem play an integral part to pupils' well-being; ensuring pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing, safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum either in small groups or individually. The role also includes supporting pupils with personal care.

Hours of work: 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm Wednesday (training), 30 minute lunch break
