Junior Satellite Systems Engineer - Permanent - Attractive - Hertfordshire

A Junior Satellite Systems Engineer is required within a leading Telecommunications, Satellite and Space Systems Technology Company. The successful Junior Satellite Systems Engineer will join a specialised team in this sector and will report to the Communications Systems Manager. The Junior Satellite Systems Engineer will be involved within the commercial and defence satellite telecommunications sector. The Junior Satellite Systems Engineer will be involved in identifying and establishing the requirements, capacity, performance, resource planning and operation of satellite communications networks for our military customers and supported communications services.

The Responsibilities for the Junior Satellite Systems Engineer

• Carry out modelling and establish and validate requirements for satellites networks
• Requirements analysis to meet communications systems requirements
• Supporting communications system design and development activities
• Supporting ground segment engineering/terminal design and development
• Specification of communication systems, integration, validation and acceptance tests
• Providing assurance activities for delivered capabilities and Change control

Skills Required for the Junior Satellite Systems Engineer

• Experience of working as an integral part of a team
• Good communication skills with ability to produce and present clear presentations
• Experience in managing stakeholders - individually and groups
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify key issues
• Ability to develop innovative solutions to defined problems

Qualifications and Experience Required for the Junior Satellite Systems Engineer

• Must be a UK National (due to potential sensitivity of work to be undertaken)
• Security Clearance is required for this role
• Graduate with a good Honours or Master's degree in a relevant subject
• Good understanding of communications systems and associated engineering
• Experience of IP networking and protocols and security of data
• Practical knowledge of systems engineering practices
• Some knowledge of requirements engineering, design/development, and VV&T
• Some experience in developing requirements systems design, test plans and procedures
• Experience in Satcom's systems engineering with a knowledge of system design
• Some knowledge of ground segment design, satellite operations and payload engineering
• A familiarity with OSS/BSS technology and communications networks
• Experience in military communications networks would be advantageous
