Site Reliability Engineer - Junior / Mid Level £40k - £60k (p.a)
The opportunity…
This is an exciting time for this business as they are expanding their Site Reliability Engineering capabilities and are looking for people who are interested in moving into this space. They are recruiting people who have come from application / infrastructure support backgrounds and are motivated to learn new skills. Upskilling and training will be provided.
The company is a highly successful financial services organisation with multiple strong brands in the UK market. This position is based just outside South London in Bromley and the company has a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The office is right by the train station and offers a healthy work / life balance with different flexible working arrangements.
Your responsibilities will include…
- The focus of your position will be around ensuring health and performance of key software applications and monitoring app performance
- You will be working across the core infrastructure stack from database to middleware and application level
- Managing services across Linux, Windows and Cloud platforms (predominantly AWS)
- Identifying opportunities to implement new business functionality and automate routine tasks
- Providing support for teams across the business
What you'll bring to the role…
- Strong IT skills from either the application, middleware or database level
- Good understanding of how applications work and the underlying services they use
- Ideally experience with middleware technologies such as WebSphere, Tomcat, Apache
- Prior scripting or coding experience - experience with Java is desirable
- An analytical approach and fine-tuned problem solving skills
- Most importantly the desire to learn new skills and new technologies
