The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to start a career as a Statistician involved in the challenging environment of early phase clinical studies and be trained in the many different aspects of statistical analysis and interpretation of clinical data.

Data Sciences at Quotient Sciences comprises over 80 staff and provides an expert service in the data management, modelling, statistical analysis and reporting of early Phase clinical studies (both healthy volunteer and patient). Due to our continued growth and success, we have an excellent opportunity for a talented Trainee Statistician or Statistician to join our Statistics department and further your career.

Each clinical study is set-up according to the clinical protocol, which details the study design, objectives, dosing information, data collection and reporting methods. Other project team members will perform tasks such as study database set-up, management of data, etc.

Working as part of the team your role will be to input into clinical protocols, perform sample size calculations, randomise the study, produce Statistical Analysis Plans, perform the statistical analyses using mixed effects models and interpret statistical results.

We use SAS (an industry standard tool) to perform statistical analysis and full training will be provided in the SAS programming language and statistical techniques. Dependent on your development, our career pathway allows you to expand your statistical role over time and progress to more senior roles and tasks.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a degree with a large statistical content (and ideally an MSc), an ability to explain statistical concepts to non-statisticians and to demonstrate a strong interest in a career as a Clinical Statistician. Experience of a programming language (ideally SAS), knowledge of ICH GCP and clinical trials would be an advantage.

Candidates with previous clinical industry experience in statistics will be considered for a more senior role.

In addition, you should have good organisational and presentation skills and be able to work to deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are essential. Effective oral and written communication skills are also required as you will be a primary statistical point of contact for data management and clinical staff and in time, sponsors.

The role would normally be based in our Edinburgh office. However due to the current COVID-19 situation, the employee will be expected to work from home, except for a limited number of days training (following Quotient social distancing requirements) with their assigned mentor in the office. Quotient will provide IT equipment to allow the employee work from home.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of being offered employment.
