About the role:

Working closely with the Northern Estimator and Area Managers, you will learn various aspects of the commercial side of our business, including business development, work winning, tendering, contract management and how we successfully deliver a service to our customers.

Some of your responsibilities will include assisting the commercial team with:

  • The compilation of in contract quotations
  • Assessing tender / quotation conditions and identifying risks
  • Building up the prices with the operational team for quick turnaround of quotations
  • The analysis of subcontract and supplier packages
  • Compiling and issuing tender queries
  • Providing tender handover packs
  • Compensation events build ups
  • Attending pre-tender meetings / events
  • Review of unsuccessful tenders and then helping to analyse and implement improvement
  • Providing accurate and reliable data to the regional Commercial Manager in preparing annual budget forecasts.
  • Checking and verifying of Subcontractors Applications before approving for payment
  • Management of the Early Warning and Compensation Event process
  • Any other relevant tasks the commercial team deem necessary

Communication is key to this role. Whilst supporting the commercial team, you will also work towards developing long term relationships with clients, supply chain and other partner organisations. You will also provide assistance in the overseeing of commercial aspects of contracts within the Region.

You will also study the Surveying Technician apprenticeship course, over the duration of 24 months. This will result in achieving a level 3 Diploma in Surveying.

About You:

A highly motivated and confident individual, you are keen to learn and have experience working in a commercial setting (or are willing to undertake necessary training). Commercially aware, you have great communication both verbally and in writing and demonstrate the best in service and client care. You are a keen learner, can work to deadlines and also work well under pressure in an everchanging climate.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Good general literacy/numeracy/ICT.
  • Minimum 5 GCSE's grade C or above.
  • Confident, outgoing personality.
  • Competent in general MS Office, specifically Excel.
  • Good written & oral presentation skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to travel and overnight stays when needed

Desirable:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
