Trainee Software Engineer Southampton, Hampshire £25k (p.a)

We have opportunities available for individuals to join our training programme as a Trainee Software Engineer based at our HQ in Southampton. We are offering a competitive salary of £25,000 per annum plus benefits for this full-time, 12 month FTC at the end of which, you will be offered a permanent contract in a relevant Engineering role (pending successful completion of the training programme).

About the Trainee Software Engineer role:

We are looking for individuals who have great problem-solving skills, and who are enthusiastic and tenacious when faced with a challenge! Starting October 2020, successful candidates will join OS as part of the Common Engineering team; focussed on delivering a world class cloud platform for internal teams, developing automated solutions for common tasks, and working with new and emerging technologies to introduce to the Technology and Design department.

What the training programme involves:

Joining a dedicated professional engineering team, you will embark on a 12-month training programme. You will work closely with technical mentors, who will help you to develop the business and technological knowledge and skills required to flourish within OS.

Over the programme you will have the opportunity to learn and show off your skills in modern software development principles. Technologies you will potentially have the opportunity to work with include: Microsoft Azure, C#, JavaScript, PowerShell, Microsoft Azure DevOps Services, as well as more specialist geospatial technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, and data technologies like Safe FME.

Although we are embracing remote working, applicants would need to be able to travel to our Southampton HQ frequently if required.

By the end of the programme, you should be able to demonstrate competence in:

- Agile software development and DevOps practices

- Software engineering, testing, security, infrastructure, and automation

- Programming languages and tools used by your core area
