We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Apprentice to join our team in Royston. Working within our experienced and talented Production Teams and reporting to the Production Lead, you will be involved in supporting the team with operating and maintaining a chemical process plant in a safe and proper manner to produce outputs that meet all customer and business unit specifications. A significant component of this role is the completion of a Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship which will be funded for you.
Through our Apprentice Programmes, we will equip you with the experience, industry recognised accredited qualifications and tools to succeed. You will spend 80% of your time gaining real hands-on experience in the role and 20% dedicated to your Apprenticeship studies, working with a National Training Provider to support your qualification.
What to expectWork closely with the Technical Team and other areas of the business unit to understand the technical processes and support new process development in our refinery
Follow operating procedures and record process information accurately using percentages and basic maths calculations
Create and maintain batch process records and shift logs as work progresses
Ensure conformance to customer requirements, specifications and output schedules with respect to total quality in all aspects of the job
Adhere to all procedures including security, health and safety, environmental quality, training etc
Take responsibility for your own safety, complying with JMs safe working practices and following PPE direction and contribute to a healthy and safe working environment
We are looking for:
GSCE Grade C Single Award or above (or equivalent) in Maths and Chemistry
A team player who can support other areas if required
The ability and enthusiasm to learn and develop both academic and practical skills
Effective communication skills
Basic Microsoft Office skills i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
The ability to deliver work in a timely manner at the highest quality
Ability to demonstrate a professional attitude to work and to colleagues
An interest in activities which demonstrate a technical aptitude
Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers, have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months and be 18 years or older as of 1st September 2020
