We have a number of opportunities for Trainee Product & Process Engineer's across the Yorkshire region, where you live will determine where you are based from. These are permanent roles, working full time, 37 hours per week

What does the role involve?

As Trainee Product & Process Engineer you will safely deliver operational activities associated with the operation of the wastewater assets base and work effectively with your colleagues to drive for the optimisation of all processes to minimise operational cost and meet performance targets.

You will carry out day to day routine manual and technical work on the sites, including routine operations, instrument calibration, sampling, reporting and basic maintenance checks to prevent failure and to manage and prioritise workload according to available resource.

You will work effectively with other colleagues and service partners when they are working on site. You will also adopt a planned approach to site maintenance working closely with Engineering Reliability via the assessment of maintenance issues and appropriate work requests.

You will maintain a safe working environment by implementing and adhering to Health and Safety procedures and challenge inappropriate behaviours, to mitigate and resolve hazards identified on site.

You will use a range of company IT systems, eg - SCADA to observe plant performance, monitor trends and recommend process adjustments and use instrumentation and IT systems to optimise performance. You will be responsible for responding to alarms (on site and remotely) and carrying out corrective actions where necessary, taking an active role in any local incidents and emergencies.

You will need to be flexible to participate in an out of hours standby rota once fully trained in the role.

What skills are required?

The successful candidate will have previous knowledge/experience of carrying out technical and manual tasks, preferably in an operational, process based industry. You will be able to prioritise your own workload and be proactive in taking ownership of site issues.

You will be able to work effectively in a team and use your initiative in resolving problems or issues and driving actions forward. You will be able to think creatively and innovatively and strive for improved ways of working. You will be committed to learning new things and your ongoing personal development in the role.

This is a key operational role where you will be carrying out manual handling duties, working at heights and dealing with raw sewerage.

You will be using a range of IT systems, therefore strong IT skills are required.

A full, valid UK driving licence is required for the role.
