My first role with AF Blakemore was as a Recruitment Manager finding new business within the convenience store sector and branding as Spar.After 12 months in this position I was asked to become a Sales Manager covering Stoke, Stafford, Shropshire, Chester and Cheshire. The area was in major decline and after 3 years of hardwork and determination, I achieved all my targets and KPI’s, increased sales on the area by 17% year on year, and improved relationships between retailer and wholesaler. In 2010 I was awarded a 5 day trip to Dubai for the annual Spar Conference.My area changed in 2010 and I now look after 32 Key Accounts in Cheshire, Chester and the entire North Wales coast from Queensferry to Holyhead on Anglessey.My retailers are very high profile and extremely demanding. One of my stores has won The Grocer store of the year and in June of this year one store won Spar’s store of the year, and in November 2012 one store won an award at The Asian Trader Awards which Spar has never won before. I have worked with one of AFB’s biggest Independent retailers based in Chester for the last 6 years.My KPI’s include Sales, Loyalty, Compliance on chilled, fresh, ambient and frozen, and additional sales. My day to day role is to increase sales through AFB and into stores, ensuring all my stores are compliant on range and follow planograms, I monitor sales, margins, footfall and guide and advise on all other issues involved in running a convenience store.My area is very challenging due to most of the stores being very seasonal and in the summer sales can increase by almost 50% depending on weather.I commute to North Wales daily from Stourbridge.
